Day Habilitation Services

What are the benefits of participating in Day Habilitation?

Day Habilitation gives participants more choices over their daily activities and opportunity to explore new areas of interest. Day Habilitation is a structured, therapeutic and instructional service to develop, maintain, increase or maximize an individual’s independent functioning in self-care, physical and emotional growth, socialization, medical, leisure, and communication skills. P.I.’s community-based services allow for more effective delivery of services to program participants.

What does a day in Day Habilitation look like?

Each person’s day is planned based on his or her individual choices and interests. Opportunities may include activities related to health and wellness, classes in areas of interest such as cooking, gardening, painting, participating in volunteer opportunities, attending community excursions and job skill development, to name a few. Each day brings new experiences and opportunities for growth, independence and integration.

How is the Day Habilitation program funded?

Funding sources may include MCO/Waiver, regional Central Iowa Community Services support, or private pay.

What is the staff to individual ratio, hours and fee to participate?

The staff to program participant ratio is varied based on individual need. Day Habilitation services are offered 5 days per week, Monday-Friday, with morning and afternoon program options.  Participants are responsible for their monthly activity fee which covers the cost of incidental expenses throughout the month and admission fees to special one-time events or activities they may choose to attend occasionally.
